October 27, 201411 yr comment_11505 Not official yet, but all the evidence points to the fact that Disney is finally getting LA games going on GOG from the scrapped deal that the original LA was making with GOG before the buyout. Some more info and evidence in this post at the scummvm boards. http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=13744 EDIT: Confirmed! More info: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/tomorrows_lucasart_releases_confimed_so_far/page1 So far Monkey Island Special Edition, Knights of the Old Republic, Tie Fighter Special Edition, X-Wing Special Edition, Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis, and Sam & Max Hit The Road are confirmed. I'm not sure if the Tie Fighter and X-Wing special editions are just the CD Collector's Editions (of which I have both) or if they've been enhanced or updated in some way. I tend to the the former, but we'll find out tomorrow! Joystiq article: http://www.joystiq.com/2014/10/27/lucasarts-classics-reach-gog-com-on-october-28/ Report

They were two of the very best non-adventure LucasArts games ever made. It also reached Joystiq. http://www.joystiq.com/2014/10/27/lucasarts-classics-reach-gog-com-on-october-28/ Report
October 28, 201411 yr comment_11513 Definitely grabbing Sam & Max. I can only hope Day of the Tentacle is also released there some day. I wouldn't mind getting Dark Forces either. Report
October 28, 201411 yr comment_11514 There's a couple of titles I've been looking to get right out the bat. At least Outlaws, X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Report
October 28, 201411 yr comment_11515 The mouse is coming to GOG, I did not think it possible. Great news! Report
October 28, 201411 yr Author comment_11516 There are 20+ titles coming altogether. This is only the first batch. Also, apparently the Special Editions of Tie Fighter and X-Wing include both the DOS and Windows versions of each game plus their expansions. Not bad. Report
October 28, 201411 yr comment_11517 It's a shame that LucasArts never did a Star Wars adventure game... seeing as they did Indiana Jones adventure games you would have thought they might have... Would have been cool to travel the galaxy as Luke Skywalker picking up objects, talking to aliens, etc. Report
October 29, 201411 yr Author comment_11518 According to Ron Gilbert, he really wanted to do a Star Wars game but they weren't allowed to because another company had the rights to Star Wars video games when they first started LucasFilm Games. He said that was a good thing because it forced them to be more creative and come up with their own great ideas....of which they certainly did. After whatever licensing agreement was made with that other company expired and LA was allowed to make Star Wars games, they never did make an adventure, though. I agree, it would have been cool. Dark Forces as an adventure would have been mega cool. Report
October 29, 201411 yr comment_11519 I always did wonder it a bit why they didn't do SW adventure games, but the rights being with someone else would explain it. And by the time they got the game rights back doing an adventure wasn't the only viable option. Report
October 29, 201411 yr comment_11520 I always did wonder it a bit why they didn't do SW adventure games Actually, they did make one... sort of... Report
October 29, 201411 yr comment_11522 Oh yeah, those. I remember playing the Indiana Jones one. That was reasonably fun. They really should port those for tablets, they'd fit well as something little to play on the go. Report
October 29, 201411 yr comment_11524 The Desktop Adventures were good games. Great, casual fun. Report
January 13, 201511 yr comment_12131 HOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIII... http://www.gog.com/game/grim_fandango_remastered Looks like I'll have to break my trade embargo with Double Fine, because this is almost too good to be true! (inb4 Tim decides to release the Steam version with additional bonus content :P) Report
January 13, 201511 yr comment_12132 Yet I'm disappointed as they didn't enhance the character models more. There's a fan made mod that has at least some of the models done in much higher quality and IMO they do work very well. Report
January 13, 201511 yr comment_12135 Ha, I had no idea such a mod existed. Personally, I'm fine with the way the models looked in the original. Part of the charm and all that... To be honest, I never played the game past Chapter 2, even though I'd consider it a triumph in terms of visual design and storytelling. The environments had a very unique, art deco inspired look to them, something that I think no other video game did until Bioshock came out. (To a much, much, MUCH lesser extent, Thief 2 also had some art deco design going on) Report

January 17, 201511 yr comment_12156 Is anybody else really excited about the Grim Fandango remaster? God, it just looks so good... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4rOgZ3RINE Seeing this has got me a lot more onboard with the remaster now... Before I was kinda like, "eh, they just messed with the lighting," and I felt it was almost a bit of a gimmick, like, "what can we change that won't be that hard to update..." But now I understand it more, in terms of the lighting being a really integral part of the look and feel of the game and how it's lit in a film noir style... so the focus on that actually makes a lot of sense to me now. I think the biggest thing for me though is going to be the music, it looks like they really went to town on that side of things and I might get it just for the music alone... Report
January 18, 201511 yr comment_12158 Yeah, the music parts are so great. I hope they put out more videos like this for DOTT, as well. But Grim really has incredible music. My favourite part of the vid I linked is where the studio guy suggests an awesome change that really works. EDIT: Fixed the link... Report
January 20, 201511 yr comment_12169 In case any of you guys missed it: Moar LucasArts on GeeOhGee! Bought Dark Forces. Haven't played that one since the late 90s. Got severe motion sickness after the first level and had to quit. Awesome release nonetheless! And apparently the prices for the Monkey Island remake and the Knights Of The Old Republic games dropped a little (from $12 to $9.99). They'll be releasing more LA later this week (Thursday, to be exact)! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Cheddar Night! They already pretty much confirmed Rebellion being among those releases. Report
