It is very exciting. On one hand, you look at the pathetic lack of updates and activity on the SVRewards site, and you tend to feel a tad discouraged;  but on the other hand, you look at the sheer vision (I mean, what they have shown is pretty impressive/amusing/clever) and you feel re-assured that they're still the real deal. I'm not sure what exactly accounts for the hiccups--and I can understand how others have been discouraged/lost faith due to the mixed signals... but somehow I knew these guys ultimately were honest and that they would accomplish this.

Life happens. I'm sure there's some explanation (not that we need to hear it) for everything that's gone wrong. I'm trying to focus on the things that have gone right--and honestly, I already called this a short time ago in the just previous update. I staked my reputation (as being a fool or not 🙂 ) on that they would release it this year. I was right. I gleaned this sense just from going back and looking at the updates/chronology as a whole. You could kind of get the impression that there was something (or something(s)) going wrong--the full extent/details of which we may never know--which were holding them back--but you also could pick up on the genuine-ness. I knew they were for real and I could sense that they were really struggling/pushing to follow through.

This is the first and only kickstarter I have ever funded. I funded $526 (I would've funded more if I wasn't so pathetic-assed broke, haha!) and I could not possibly be more proud.

I am so excited to realize this product a couple weeks from now.

Great going, Scott, Mark, Chris, Patrick (no offense to any others whose names I do not know yet); thanks for making this happen. Don't listen to the naysayers. Entitlement and a lack of empathy are unfortunately a trademark of the era in which we currently exist

People probably got email from Kickstarter, but for anyone who didn't, it looks like the game will be shipping next month!

There's a more extensive FAQ on their post, but I'm terrifically excited to see it come out, and grateful and thankful for the years and years of work by so so many people that have gone into this.

My own audio tribute isn't going so well. I had hoped more people would send in their thoughts, but, so far, only one person has. I'm going to see if any of the Two Guys or the Pope would have something to say, although I realize it may be a bit touchy so soon.

Johnathon got a reaction from Frede in Al Lowe retires (again), probably due to issues with Paul Trowe
As repetitive as Paul's behavior has become, the idea he's denying account access to a paying client is no less hilarious to me (I mean, of course it's sad, that goes without saying). There seems to be no limit. As if he's one to talk about unprofessional behavior? Regardless, he's got to see that such methods--regardless of right or wrong--would destroy his company pretty quickly.

And what's with that change in voice from "we" to "my," and then back to "ours," in the letter? Is Paul in the 3rd grade? If he's the public relations department as well as CEO...

I was 6 years old when SQ1EGA was released and didn't play all the SQ games until the 1994 Collection release. Nostalgic bias be damned. ;)

VGA, though I'll admit I wasn't quite old enough to play EGA when it was released. Therefore, I don't suffer the particular nostalgia "bias" that some older fans may.  ;)

I was first introduced to the series through sq3 (my personal favorite), and the sq1ega and sq2 diskettes had already been lost by my father by the time I'd become old enough to be curious about the games (age 8). From there, I played sq4, and then sq6, and then sq5 (all purchased separately as single box editions).

I remember how bitch'n hard games 1 and 2 were to get ahold of, and therefore, after I'd exhausted my energy on games 3 through 6, I proceeded to cry and whine to my parents about how horrible my life was because stores never sold sq1 or sq2,  because I was so curious about them and desperate to play them.

Where was I...? Oh yes.. so my chronological sense of the games has been all screwed up from the beginning, and it wasn't until I found the six pack collection at Costco that I finally got my hand on the first two chapters. Naturally, I played sq1VGA first, and quite enjoyed it.

I wouldn't say it's an unsubstantiated bias. SQ1vga has a lot of good qualities, though I am quite willing to believe had it been Scott and Mark's vga version, it'd be loads better.

That having been said, I also greatly value the ega version, because while I'm slightly more of a late 80's/early 90's art style biased fan, I'm also an sq fanatic and purist. EGA was, of course, much easier to beat after playing the point n click vga version, but it's still a fun little gem. No different than being able to appreciate an old black and white film in it's original context, really.

I know, this didn't really help much.

Forgive me if I'm being opinionated or biased here, but... wouldn't it seem to be an undermining of the Two Guys' finally working together again, after so long - and most notably without having to answer to some corporate penny-squeezer(s) - for them to decide to dice SpaceVenture up into an episodic release?

I must be honest and say that the very idea sits very ill with me. I don't believe I'd like it at all.

Then again, it is the Two Guys... so I'm sure if they decide it of their own free will, then there must be a good reason for it - one which enhances the game experience rather than does the opposite.

    EDIT: @JimmyTwoBucks

Much the same feelings here, but I'll add my two cents in saying that I believe it would also be a bad idea to release the game episodic even temporarily. What the Guys need to do is make the best damned impression that they can with it, from the get-go. Having episodic releases would only dwindle the punching force of a later full release.

It's not like they aren't way behind schedule as it is (saying this not out of criticism, but just for making the point that if people weren't still interested nor didn't still want a full release - well... you know...)

What they need to do is take advantage of the fact that those really looking forward to the game have accepted that it's going to be late, and just keep on chugging on underneath of that moral bubble, to deliver a full, epic gaming experience.

    Dear all,

I am pleased to inform you that the unofficial SQ prequel "Decisions of the Elders"  has been released yesterday.
Playing Roger's parents it's up to you to save the legend.

Decisions of the Elders is a full length (about 30 rooms) retro game (320x200 EGA graphics, AGI fonts) with challenging puzzles. But don't worry! Even though this game is a tribute to the beloved Sierra adventure games there are no dead ends. And there is a walkthrough available!

If you loved the old Sierra adventures there's a really good chance for you to like this game!

You have heard of this game before? That's because a short part has been pre-released in 2012. Now the game is completely finished!

The game can be found in the games database of AGS (adventure game studio).
You can also download the game directly at: http://www.tonundtext.at/downloads/DOTE.zip
I will also try to attach the ZIP-file to this thread.

    Have fun!!!
