  1. Your section was great, Akril! Loved it!
  2. Yeah, it's a parody of a few themes from what I've read. One namely TOS.
  3. I was going to be recording Tandy soundtracks of SQ1 and SQ2 AGI anyway for Troels here to use in his podcasts, so I can share those with you. Whenever I get them done...
  4. Both ScummVM and DOSBox emulate PC Speaker nicely. Though, I recommend Tandy 3voice instead. :)
  5. They already tried. They said they weren't interested and 'had their own plans'.
  6. It's not that they "want" the rights, per se, it's just that they own the copyright and they are required by law to uphold it. A company needs assets. They're keeping as many assets as they can and defending their copyright so they can keep them. They were offering them for sale at one point but the price was just unrealistically high. Possibly on purpose. I don't think they care one way or the other if they sell it or keep it. They're probably happy with things just staying the way they are and just not worrying about it.
  7. Rarely is PR engaged with placeholder assets.
  8. Not going to happen, though. I believe a few people were thinking of somethingnlike this a couple years ago. It's just way too much money ($10k is not near enough. It's somewhere in the millions). But besides that it's legally ambiguous. If it's Kickstarted who gets ownership? Everyone who pledged? It just sounds like a legal nightmare.
  9. Saw this on Facebook. Awesome!! Loved Gold Rush!
  10. That's the one!!!!
  11. I'm not sure if that is entirely legal. But besides, $10k is not near enough to buy the rights.
  12. That link is a 404. :(
  13. I scoured my old Sierra backup CDs looking for those old SQ fangames like Orat Soccer, Eureka Trash Pickup, Aliens Stole My Plunger, SQ3.5, but the one I was specifically looking for was Escape Vohaul's Asteroid because it had one of my favourite of your remixes of the Format Countdown, Troels, which was in a straight 4/4 rock time signature. I found a few of them, alas I did not backup some....including Escape Vohaul's Asteroid. :(
  14. Just as a note, in case this is sincere, there are European equivalents to Kickstarter. I think IndieGogo is one of them.
  15. Umm..er...well...good luck!
  16. Hah I think you're right! Now that I think of it the first time I read that title was for one of your earlier remixes! Incidentally, I just envisioned a parody of Europe's Final Countdown...
  17. Probably a hex editor. Any one would work. Sometimes you can read strings (lines of text) riddled throughout the game data files among the gibberish.
  18. No, there is only one FORMAT Countdown track because it refers to an actual computer 'format' (a complete wipe of a computer system). The countdown in SQ5 is for a self destruct. ;)
  19. Besides the art direction and lack of 2 Guys involvement, what else was different between the original and the remake? There were the two instances of copy protection, the 2 Guys instant replay death sequences (which were actually a good part), the widget/slot machine solution (worth points but I'm not sure if the vga version has more points than the original or not), the addition of the SQ4 easter egg which was a nice touch. I think Doug Oldfield was involved in the remake, however, and I seem to recall Scott getting along well with him to the point of saying if there was a third guy from andromeda he would be it. The remake has merits, but the original is far better solely for the fact that neither of the Two Guys directed it.
  20. I dont know if I'd have the time to arrange another video this time around. Someone else will have to do it, I'm afraid.
  21. The only collection that doesn't have the AGI original is the 2006 re-release. Anything before that is fine, with the exception of the Space Quest Trilogy and the Space Quest Saga which only contain the remake of SQ1, it looks like. Steam also only has the remake (as it's basically a re-release of the 2006 collection). It used to be on ActiVision's store as well, though I don't think it is anymore. Same deal at any rate. The best one to get would be the Space Quest Collection Series which has all 6 games, both versions of SQ1, a few bonus games, and a teaser trailer for SQ7. The Current Inside Copy, etc videos are on there as well. It's quite the pack on two cds. I highly recommend it if you can get a hold of it. Most of us started with the AGI version so it has a special place of nostalgia in our hearts. I, for instance, prefer Mark Crowe's AGI artwork to the outsourced-to-Korea over-stylized 40's sci-fi look of the remake by far. I love Mark's view of technology. I love the yellow/brown, purple-skied desert of Kerona more than the red sand/rocked green-skied SQ1VGA. The remake is fun (and the soundtrack is great! One of SQ1VGA's higher points), but I just think the original's atmosphere wins out.
