SQ Minecraft Server/Website Launched
The Minecraft server is finally up, along with its website! The instructions on how to access the server and all the server information is included as well. As a bonus there is a downloads section for the Ulence Flats world texture pack (which makes Ulence Flats look authentic to the original AGI game) and a collection of Roger Wilco Minecraft skin for your character avatars! More to come in the future. Email suggestions or even submit content for other ideas for downloads if you feel like it! The server at the moment has 4 worlds: The Hub - a portal hub to the different worlds, the Survival World - for standard Survival Multiplayer play (pvp disabled), The Arcada - as yet, the lower levels are unfinished but getting there, and Ulence Flats - the original creation by Chris Pope! The SQ worlds and the Hub are view-only and are basically just cool places to hang out and chat. Only Admins and trusted Builders will be able to manipulate these worlds. If you'd like to be a Builder and help complete the SQ worlds send myself or PCJ a message. The rules are pretty straightforward. Don't grief (destroy creations), be respectful/ethical, don't steal others' stuff or build on their land, etc. I don't think there's any cause for overly strict rules at this point. We're all fairly smart. We'll deal with issues as we come to them. Just have fun! If you have any problems, hit up one of the admins (myself, pcj, or Chris Pope). If none of us are on the server, email/message us or just post here on the forums. Likewise, if you have any suggestions or submissions (skins, custom plugins, whatever) let us know! In the future there's all kinds of possibilities for different community events and projects like building contests or chats with the Two Guys right on the server etc. In those instances we'll have a plugin which will link SQN's IRC chat to the Minecraft server's chat and someone will be able to stream video on Justin.tv or something so everyone can watch and be a part of it. Mwardie, I don't know if you're trolling or innocently impatient, but I've asked you before and I'm going to ask again. Please don't make double posts. It clutters up threads. Also, please don't use centered or strikeout text unless there's a purpose for it. It makes your posts hard to read on certain displays. We've already told you everything we know. We need to get to $400k to get another prototype. We've made over $400k now. It will come soon. Nobody has any more information. It adds nothing to keep asking and asking. It'll be out when it's announced. Thank you! :)

Whatever. The fans will respond to this. If Replay ends up getting Space Quest then it doesn't matter. I will not support it without the Two Guys and neither will many others. He may try to play with words to make it sound awesome, but the best way to combat this is to not support it without the Two Guys. If they don't want to join with Replay then I don't care what they do with Space Quest. It's not Space Quest without them. I'd rather see SQ solely in the hands of 2GFA, myself. I'd also rather see new games anyway. I wouldn't mind if another Space Quest never came out, as long as the Two Guys are still making games.

Commentary with fixed audio?
I don't think it's too bad. At least for me. The audio doesn't really need to sync perfectly. Every now and then you'll have to let the video catch up (I only had to do this for SQ5), but it's all about the audio anyway.

Been working on this A LOT the past couple of days. It's almost set up and ready to go. There's a welcome hub with a couple portals to the current SQ1 worlds and another to a community survival world. Just a few things to iron out with Chris and it should be good to go soon.

Minecraft / Space Quest Server.. asking for your thoughts
I need to talk more with Chris about the Survival/Creative Minecraft worlds possibility. He was worried about bandwidth and the worlds being too large to stream to members. I don't think we could swing both Survival and Creative worlds. It would have to be one and it would have to be fairly restricted, somewhat like Minecraft Workbench. But that would all come after the regular SQ worlds are built. For now we'll focus on the game worlds. Maybe do one at a time for now. The texture-altering plugin sounds like a good idea. I was thinking of using EternalTime or something similar to keep all the space-venue worlds night time permanently. In doing so, though, they would have to be separate worlds each. But they could be relatively small as we could use a map editor to remove everything from the world except the construction itself. The custom plugin you made would be handy! In fact, everything you've put together is mostly exactly what I figured we'd need. Chris also has dynmap installed in the one he gave me. I also got IRCTransport, WorldEdit, and PermissionsBukkit.
