I take it that you have not tried Munt in a while. While it is not yet 100%, it is getting very, very close.

You are welcome.

Surly you are familiar with the soundtrack for Bladerunner.

Another problem is that the videos were probably done on video tape. Any surviving video would be degraded over the years now, too. I would be fantastic to find good quality copies of all the promotional videos and the extra video content found on the Sierra CDs, too.

A one-room AGI/AGS adventure to promote SpaceVenture?
Collector replied to Decaffeinated Jedi's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
pcj already said that he knows AGI. It is not that difficult. And rightly or wrongly, there has been enough bad reaction to the HTML5. Platform is irrelevant with AGI as there is no game that is easier to run in DOSBox than AGI. The Idea is to make it like SQ1 (see the title of this thread) so that answers all questions of interface, music, etc. As far as skills required to produce anything good, realize that there are people posting in this thread that have already produced professional quality full games that have been met with great acclaim. -

I vote AGI. -
We have all been victims from speed posting. :)

Tawm, are you sure that this isn't the reason that are Android users are bragging to you? ;) How often are you proselytizing to them? All kidding aside, I have never had Android users brag to me, either, unless they had just bought a brand new one. I cannot sat the same of iPhone users.

You mean Rosella?

A one-room AGI/AGS adventure to promote SpaceVenture?

AGI is easier, but the community is defunct. SCI is a bit harder, but has community resources and would keep the Sierra "authenticity". http://sciprogramming.com/community/ -
I haven't paid that much attention to browser market shares lately, but the logs form the sites I maintain show little has changed over the past year or two. Granted this amounts to little more than anecdotal evidence, but it lead me to believe chrome had not made that much progress.

One of the problems with making it Chrome exclusive is that it is still a minority browser. An IE exclusive would have left all but Windows users out. Not many outside of Mac OS use Safari. Firefox is a majority browser and is available on most platforms. Even if someone does not want to use Firefox, The portable version will have no impact on the system. Chrome portable is a joke to call it portable since its installer makes registry entries and Chrome will not run without them. That said, anyone that does not want to install Chrome and still wants to see it, you can see a play through on YouTube.

No Sonny Bonds?

I think it is a very bad idea to bind it to a single browser. As hard as Google is pushing Chrome there will be many that will refuse to be coerced into installing it.

The installer already includes all of the applicable patches. That patch should probably be removed as it contains most of the game data from the floppy version and is of questionable legality. It should not be used with the installer. By doing so, you are mixing two different games together.

I don't know if JohnnyPhantom is still around, but as I posted in the other thread, If he is going to be using my installers for this play through, I hope he grabbed the latest and did clean installs before he started. I had a hard drive crash and in the recovery of data, some of the files were mixed up, leading to some configuration issues. These have now been fixed, at least for the SQ installers.

The final episode suggests a very different direction for the next season.

Why do some people think it's so important to pay?
Collector replied to lukeman3000's topic in The Rocket Bar
I used to do the same thing with my Sierra games, but after all the work or writing my installers for others, I have found I can quickly and easily set up all my Sierra games again, all patched and optimized using the very same installers I have available on SHP. Other data is another matter, though. -
AdventureGamers' forums' thoughts on the Two Guys' Kickstarter
Collector replied to pcj's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
There is a thread about the Tex Murphy Kickstarter on AG now. Tex did well on his first day, but has since slowed. Some of the Tex fans in that thread are some of the same that were criticizing the SpaceVenture Kickstarter in the 2 Guys' thread. They are blaming the slow down on Kickstarter supporters that were vocal in opposing the possible inclusion of DRM and then turning around to blame the SpaceVenture Kickstarter for drawing funds from what would otherwise rightfully be going to the Tex Kickstarter. Why can't these people just appreciate the revival that is currently going on with adventure games, even if some of the games were not their personal favorites? We have waited a decade or more to see a return of these masters from the heyday of adventures. Not everyone can be expected to contribute to all of the Kickstarters, but why lob grenades at the other projects? -

Hey Ken, have you tried IA's SQ2 VGA remake? I felt it truly recaptured the spirit of SQ. http://www.infamous-...ex.php?page=sq2 -
AdventureGamers' forums' thoughts on the Two Guys' Kickstarter
Collector replied to pcj's topic in Andromedan Spaceport
As Josh Mandel has noted, there were two kinds on dead ends -- the ones that were part of the game design and the unintentional ones. The unintentional ones could rightly be considered bugs, but the ones that were designed into the game, the intentional ones, are part of the experience. The only thing that might make it a flaw is if you have to restore too far back to recover. If you have to start over just because you didn't make and keep save games. As noted, the adventure gamer's axiom of "Save early and save often". -
What would you expect for game that probably has had little to no development, yet? Judging by the time it took for the funding reach the first demo level, based on how fast the funding came in for the other Kickstarters, I imagine that that point came sooner than what they might have been prepared for.
