May 1, 201214 yr comment_2082 It says it in the page title too! :P I can put Janitorial Times at the top in a tag if you think that will help. Report
May 2, 201214 yr comment_2119 Another minor tweak: I believe the conventional spelling is "Andromedan." The Spaceport forum currently has an extra "i" in there. Sorry to nitpick! On an unrelated note, I'm curious to hear how SQ fan games will be integrated into the new site. Are we planning to give them their own link in the navbar? That's the option I'd favor. I think it's a good idea as far as rebuilding an active community to drive as much attention toward Incinerations, VSB, and the SQ2 remake (as well as the older fan games like Replicated and TLC) in order to keep the fans busy while they're waiting for the SPACEVENTURE to come to fruition. Just my two cents... Jess Report
May 2, 201214 yr comment_2120 Good catch, fixed. I think incorporating the fan games into the new site is definitely something we're going to do. We just need to figure out how it needs to look, etc. Report
May 2, 201214 yr Author comment_2123 Thank you for that! I had no idea the actual spelling format. Report
May 2, 201214 yr comment_2146 I noticed another thing. The bullet for forums with new posts is set to override the default hand cursor for links. Perhaps most are using notifications to find new posts, but this bullet serves the function of going to the first unread post. It would be easy for users to overlook that it is a link. It might also help to make the bullet image a little more distinct or brighter to draw attention to its function. Report
May 2, 201214 yr comment_2148 Overrode the cursor setting with pointer. I'll see what I can do about brightening it. Report
May 2, 201214 yr Author comment_2155 Indeed, this is what made me sad when I initially thought there was no way to view the first unread post. I see that it shows the hand cursor now, though. Report
May 2, 201214 yr comment_2156 Changed the color of the unread message icon. Hopefully it's bright enough now. :) Report
May 3, 201214 yr comment_2165 Wow, I wasn't expecting it to come this quickly. I like what ya'll've done with the place. Report
May 3, 201214 yr comment_2174 Man...so many buttons, so many things to get used to... Still, I am pretty impressed. I do sort of miss the old look, but I'm sure I could get used to this new one. Excellent work! Report
May 3, 201214 yr comment_2199 Glad you guys are getting into it. I added Windows Live login capability today. If you guys have any ideas for features, let us know! Thanks! Report

May 4, 201214 yr comment_2244 I'm anxious to start populating the database with information. If we agree on a skeleton structure, we could start handing out sections for editors to populate. Once the list of editors is final, that is. Edit: And, of course, only for editors who are interested in doing that. A lot of it is copy-paste work, like say Jess' fan fiction pages and Frans' games database, but it could use a tender hand with some stronger categorization, perhaps. Report

A lot of it is copy-paste work, like say Jess' fan fiction pages and Frans' games database, but it could use a tender hand with some stronger categorization, perhaps. Excellent point on the categorization. Right now, for instance, the Articles section at the Broomcloset is a complete mess, including everything from fan art to the Monolith Burger subsite. I really hope we can tidy that up a bit. Some other navbar ideas... Do we want to include a navbar link to some kind of centralized page with information about the SPACEVENTURE? Again, I assume a lot of the new visitors in the months ahead will want information about the new game. Making it as easy to find as possible seems like a good thing (even if there's already a good chance that the SPACEVENTURE will be plastered all over the blog posts on the entry page already). Do we want a "Hints" link in the navbar? I'm assuming walk-throughs will be linked from the respective "Games" pages in the database already, but making hints -- again, a big draw for visitors -- immediately accessible .with direct navigation might help new visitors find their way around. Just some thoughts. Everything is proceeding beautifully. Jess Report
May 4, 201214 yr comment_2250 I don't know about making the top-level navigation too cluttered. Maybe once the new game comes out we can make hints more prominent. I don't see doing that for the old SQ games at this point though. The main thing I'm concerned with now is figuring out how to let people add images without giving them all admin access. Attachments seem the best way to do it, but I'm struggling to figure out how to iterate through them on a template basis. Report

The address you should be using is forum.spacequest.net. Report
May 4, 201214 yr comment_2285 Let's talk categories! I definitely want to include fan content. Should we keep that entirely separate from the "canon" content or combine it in the same database tab? What sort of articles should we put in the Articles tab? Are there any better categorization ideas out there? Report
May 4, 201214 yr comment_2286 I definitely think we should keep fan content and "canon" content separate. At this point, we're even in a situation where it would make sense to make the following distinction: Space Quest canon Spaceventure canon Fan content For Articles, I think we're probably thinking of written content of any kind pertaining to Space Quest. But that includes interviews with designers, fake interviews with characters, probably written fan fiction as well. Maybe "Articles" isn't the right legend for that? Or maybe I have just misunderstood its purpose. Report
May 4, 201214 yr comment_2287 Spaceventure canon Probably once that exists. I guess it depends on how much of the same universe (if any) they share. We also should probably decide where the stuff from the SQC falls. But that includes interviews with designers, fake interviews with characters, probably written fan fiction as well. Maybe "Articles" isn't the right legend for that? Or maybe I have just misunderstood its purpose. I was thinking interviews, walkthroughs, etc, from what Frans was saying. But we can always add more.
