pcj Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Josh Mandel thinks The Two Guys probably won't use Kickstarter...interesting. Quote
pcj Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Two Guys update: https://vimeo.com/40775383 Summary: [*:3ateioah]Twinkie nose contest [*:3ateioah]New fan-driven weekly podcast coming out Edit: Looks like it got deleted. (begin conspiracy theories) Edit: Aaaand it's back. *takes tinfoil hat off* Quote
pcj Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Just curious, was the interview that the Guys' site has pictures from in the gallery (with Scott wearing the "More Cowbell" t-shirt) ever posted anywhere? Quote
Johnathon Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Two Guys update: https://vimeo.com/40775383 Haha! (Y) Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Just curious, was the interview that the Guys' site has pictures from in the gallery (with Scott wearing the "More Cowbell" t-shirt) ever posted anywhere? I think those shots were from a podcast interview that was done many moons ago with Scott by Chris Pope. Which remains unreleased. Maybe we'll finally get to hear it someday. Quote
pcj Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Maybe on this podcast that they're hyping. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Maybe on this podcast that they're hyping. Maybe. But Chris has said he has conducted a brand new interview with both of the Guys for the podcast. The old interview was just with Scott Murphy alone. Quote
pcj Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Ohh, Chris is doing the new podcast as well? Cool. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 Ohh, Chris is doing the new podcast as well? Cool. Er, Chris Pope - not our Datadog. :) Just to avoid any confusion. Quote
Decaffeinated Jedi Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Er, Chris Pope - not our Datadog. :) Just to avoid any confusion.Datadog was declared Pope? Congrats! Seriously, though, I'm excited about the idea of a podcast. I wonder if they're thinking only in terms of news about the upcoming SPACEVENTURE, or if they'll delve back into the Space Quest days as well. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 If they're going to fill out a weekly podcast, they will probably have to delve into the past at some point. :) Quote
MusicallyInspired Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I posted my SQ Minecraft video on the Two Guys Facebook and they asked me to send it to Chris. I suppose to include on a future podcast? *shrug* So it seems they want to keep some connection with Space Quest at least. Quote
Troels Pleimert Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 Oh, the connection with Space Quest will always be there, indelibly and indubitably. I don't think it was ever an intention to somehow distance themselves from their past exploits. In fact, quite the opposite. I have the feeling that if they could, they would be making a full-fledged Space Quest game right now. Quote
Datadog Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 I simply thought that the title "SpaceVenture" was already a play on "Space Quest" - that they would be continuing Roger's adventures under a different name. Still, if they're using Kickstarter, I'm ready to throw my money at them. Quote
MusicallyInspired Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Well, ActiVision also owns the rights to the character and name "Roger Wilco". They'd have to, seeing as they were attempting to relabel Space Quest as "Roger Wilco in...." in huge letters on their various boxes after SQ3, probably due to the whole museum trademark thing, is that right? Quote
pcj Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Pretty sure it's just copyright protecting them at this point (which is enough for any derivative works using Roger Wilco in a space game) - I believe the Roger Wilco trademark has been canceled. Quote
Johnathon Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 From what I learned in Patent Research, any trademark expires after 20 years. I could be slightly off. EDIT: Or was that patents? Quote
pcj Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 I believe you're thinking of patents. To my knowledge, trademarks do not expire after a certain length of time, but they have to be in commercial use or they will become invalid. Quote
