* Light up anything within range of your flash
* Keep your hands warm while holding it
* Large, easy to use on-off button
* Display keeps track of the flashlight's status
* SUPER BRIGHT!
REQUIRED PERMISSIONS:
* Phone State & Address Book (To e.g. turn on or off when you're in a call)
* Full Internet Access (To e.g. keep track of updates)
* Admin Access (To integrate properly with your phone)

nockgeneer reacted to pcj in Gary Owens is deadI think as a fan I'd want someone a little more different to narrate instead of someone imitating Gary. Just no comparison.

nockgeneer reacted to Wilcofever in Gary Owens is deadHey Gang -
Scott and I are both very saddened by the news of Gary Owens' passing the the age of 80. What can we say- the man was a living legend in the entertainment biz whom we were both extremely privileged to have had the opportunity to work with and honored to have featured in Space Quest. It was definitely a high-point in our younger lives/careers and an experience I'll always look back on warmly. What makes this news doubly hard ,of course, is that (as you all know) Gary was to be featured as the narrator in Spaceventure. Unfortunately, Mr. Owens health fell into decline before we were able to record him. But what we want everyone to know is that, though we could never replace Gary as the narrator, we will work hard to find the right talent for the job.
Best,

nockgeneer got a reaction from Frede in Music and soundtracksI'm not at that spot yet, I just did a quick recording of what's played in the opening sequences and cut out some of the silence and put it together as a sample. I noticed there were only 3 tracks in that soundtrack so I wanted to do a full recording, including things like the lullaby song. I'll get to the Marrow-Mattic theme eventually, but I believe it's almost at the end.
-
nockgeneer got a reaction from Frede in Music and soundtracksI'll upload the album again later with the fixed name in the tags.
In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to re-record space quest ][ using an Apple ][GS emulator... except I was about to give up hope in ever finding one with decent sound emulation. Finally I found out that scummvm can handle IIgs game files, so I extracted the game files and (after some finagling) got it to work... and the sound is awesome--much better than what's show in the video earlier in this thread. I just started on it so here are three tracks from the opening portion:
1) Space Quest II Theme
2) Roger Dies
3) Capture and Crash
Note that the SQII music was apparently arranged (or rearranged) by Al Lowe so I'll be marking them as such.
Let me know what you think. It's a good excuse to play SQII again so I'll continue with the rest of the tracks and post again when I'm done.
And for some reason, I'm not allowed to upload and attach flac files directly.. :-/ so here's a link to the files :-P

nockgeneer reacted to MiLO83 in Roger Wilco - Over! ("The Stranger" DEMO)Got "Speech Recognition" WORKING!!!
Remember SQ 1-3 where you typed in commands??
I've got that working with voice recognition through Microsoft Kinect.
Why Kinect? Kinect has a great voice recognition API, and regular microphone MS Speech Recognition isn't compatable with the Unity3d Engine. Noone has gotten it working with several attempts at writing custom plugins.
Kinect Voice Recognition does work with Unity. (And brilliantly!!) through the "Kinect Extras" plugin.
I am having trouble rendering the game menus to the Rift because the GUI Draws won't render on the Oculus Camera Rig.
The guy who wrote the menu code i'm using is on vacation until January somethingth.
Well I'm off to my secluded island, should have a kickstarter demo ready for when I get back the 28thish.

nockgeneer reacted to Frede in Roger Wilco - Over! ("The Stranger" DEMO)Yeah, I'd suggest that you share this elsewhere too if you want more response, because not only can this place be pretty quiet at times (for better and for worse), but we rarely get that many newcomers either. Check out the "Sierra Chest", "Sierra Gamers" and "Space Quest" Facebook groups, if you're into that. If not, the Sierra Help Pages Forums are probably livelier.
For good measure, I will add that I think the stuff you're making and showcasing here is extremely cool and among the more successful attempts at moving Space Quest into 3D that I've seen :)

Dear all,
I am pleased to inform you that the unofficial SQ prequel "Decisions of the Elders" has been released yesterday.
Playing Roger's parents it's up to you to save the legend.
Decisions of the Elders is a full length (about 30 rooms) retro game (320x200 EGA graphics, AGI fonts) with challenging puzzles. But don't worry! Even though this game is a tribute to the beloved Sierra adventure games there are no dead ends. And there is a walkthrough available!
If you loved the old Sierra adventures there's a really good chance for you to like this game!
You have heard of this game before? That's because a short part has been pre-released in 2012. Now the game is completely finished!
The game can be found in the games database of AGS (adventure game studio).
You can also download the game directly at: http://www.tonundtext.at/downloads/DOTE.zip
I will also try to attach the ZIP-file to this thread.
Have fun!!!
