Alright, so I recently (finally) got around to playing both Pledge Quest and its sequel. Having finished Deponia not long ago, and with the Spaceventure and LSL remakes looming ahead, I've found myself with a nearly insatiable appetite for MORE ADVENTURE GAMES! RAWR! ...ahem. Of course, what I mean by this is *new* games, or at least, new to me. I've been replaying some of my old Telltale games, but what I really want is something new - something that I don't already know how to beat. Right now, I've got Resonance and Akril's two Adventure games on the block, but that's it. Does anyone feel like recommending other, similar games to add to the stack?

I almost put this under existing thread of "kickstarters that need help" but I think this one is a little too big and successful to fit that topic. I've recognized a few SQ fans who are also backing Dreamfall, and it occurred to me there might be still others who would appreciate it but haven't noticed yet. Dreamfall has much less humor than a Space Quest, but it does have a strong story-line which is about half fantasy and half sci-fi. It is not the stereotypical fantasy at all, with wizards and so forth, so perhaps even those of you who disdain the usual fantasy might bother to take a look. Also anybody who tried the previous Dreamfall and threw up their hands…

Has anyone seen this show? It is hilarious! It reminds me of playing D&D with my friends when I was younger. Good times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk1B8DiIJI8

Check out the discussion on Facebook. I'm planning to be there, and the Space Pope should be able to drag Scott and Mark along. The Coles will also be there. We might even get the Danish contingent of SQ fans to show up this time.

Hi all. The countdown has begun. I've submitted everything to Kickstarter and am awaiting their approval. I wanted to launch on 1/21/13 there were a few delays in getting everything lined up properly. If funded, I will be creating all new recordings of music I created over the course of my game composing career 1989-1996. But to get started, I'd like to share the various links for the project. My blog for this Kickstarter project is at www.kenspace.com My Twitter handle is @mrkenallen The Twitter hashtag for this project is #KSDome The Facebook page is www.facebook.com/UnderTheHalfdome (shortened to http://goo.gl/ES2Dd for Twitter purposes) And…

Hey, everyone. Thought I'd check in and spread a little New Year's cheer around here. It's 2013, and I hope everyone is still feeling safe -- and, since it's now Thursday after the fact, perhaps even a mite refreshed? So, anyway. I'm not going to ask something inane and pointless, like "what New Year's resolution do you plan on failing at this year?" I'm just going to flap my arms wildly and go, "Yay, 2012 was the best! 2013 can't possibly top any of that. Oh, wait, all those games that were announced in 2012 are coming out this year! Including the SpaceVenture! So maybe it can!" And then collapse into a heap of my own slobber. What are your plan…

A fellow backer asked a question on another forum http://www.gog.com/e...e_coming/page16 So, to those of you who are a member of the group in question, why would you not want to pledge anything to Hero U? Did the QfG games kinda suck in your opinion, and you'd just as soon the adventure-tainted-by-RPGish-skills die off? Or is it really big-time kickstarter fatigue like some people are speculating ("no no if I log into my kickstarter account again I'll get malnutrition from all the ramen that follows")? Or something else entirely? Note: this is both for curiousity sake and in case there is something in the Hero U campaign that is giving the …

So there's this: http://www.spacejanitors.com/ Found a few references to Space Quest so they obviously know what they're doing. The first season was pretty good and can be found on The Escapist. They're moving to the Geek and Sundry channel for the second season.

Since there are so many musically inclined people here, I thought it'd be nice to have a thread where we discuss the music we're currently listening to. I'll obviously go first. Magma An acquired taste, but among my all-time favourites. They're French, but their music revolves around sci-fi stories on and about the planet Kobaïa, a utopia founded by disgruntled Earthlings. As a result, most of their lyrics are in the fictional language Kobaïan, which sounds kind of Slavic-Germanic, but also draws inspiration from scat-singing. Their music, dubbed "Zeuhl" ("Music of the Celestial Might"), ranges from jazz fusion (the debut album "Kobaïa"), over a Wagner/Orff-inspire…

Chris Robert's "Star Citizen" http://www.robertssp...m/star-citizen/ Hello gang. Another "crowdfunding" effort, this time by Chris Roberts, the creator of the once-popular Wing Commander and Privateer series. It is not a kickstarter. For those who played games back in the 1980s and 1990s, you know who this guy is or are aware of these games. For those who don't, this guy was a heavyweight designer who worked for the once all-mighty Origin; he was giving multi-million dollar budgets for games back when that was unheard of and delivered great products. He then fell off the face of the earth about a decade ago after getting frustrated with interferen…

So there are a few of us already backing Papier Adventure http://www.kickstart...apier-adventure but I expected there to be more. Some people at Pinkerton forums have said they are holding back for lack of information. Recently there was a nice interview posted with some additional info http://alternativema...ycraft-studios/ and now there is a reddit IAmA being held so please come help ask questions, especially if you're holding back due to lack of info: http://www.reddit.co...ead_for_papier/

So, I pretty much guessed it already, but the Broken Sword has returned with a Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/165500047/broken-sword-the-serpents-curse-adventure It's in traditional point and click style in the vein of 1 and 2 this time and it does look pretty sweet.

Hey guys, So one of the other things I'm interested in heavily, apart from SQ, is a lil old tech company called Apple. You MAY have heard of them. They're the ones that make those fancy devices called iCellphone. Or what it iPhone? iTabs? iPads? Eh I dunno. But seriously haha, I love discussing and speculating about their products and where they are going as a company. I'm just a massive fan of Apple and what they've accomplished since the late 70's, especially regarding the shift they would appear to be spearheading from desktop computing to mobile computing with the iPad. Seeing as its the eve of Tim Cook's first major interview as head of the company (he's …

Rather unique topic, though it must be a really short game to be that cheap http://www.kickstart...cking-adventure What do you guys think, intriguing or not? Hm I see now that the theme is ethical hacking OR linux, not both in same game. I guess it might be fun for somebody just starting out in Linux though, like my friend's 11-year-old kid...

Sad news today. Paul Steed, who worked on games like Wing Commander and Quake suddenly passed away. Paul was instrumental in pushing the boundaries of early low-poly count 3D modelling. We have him to thank for the look of the 3D models Strike Commander and later Wing Commander games, Quake, Quake 2 and more. http://kotaku.com/59...ake-series-dies

I poured my nervous energy into getting my hands on a real MT-32. It came in the mail last week and I spent part of the weekend getting it hooked up and running via DOSBox/Cakewalk. I've wanted one forever! This is probably the coolest thing I've messed with in a long time. Sooo much fun! I'm spending quite a bit of time over at Quest Studios :) I'm sure the prototype will be great, and great things take time.

Sorry for being :offtopic: ! (A bit.) Yeah. I have a hard time getting through the Dragon Tattoo or Social Networks soundtrack, even though they're good. The same goes for Ghosts I-IV, actually. It's like there's something missing -- well, obviously, the movie is missing from the soundtracks, but that shouldn't apply to Ghosts. Yet the Quake soundtrack I can listen to on its own, and be quite happy about it, too. Interesting you mentioned "Descent into Cerberon," my favorite track. :P (And I think probably everybody's favorite track off that disc, now that I think about it. It's that opening synth. It kicks tremendous ass.)

So it appears that when Lowe Trowe & Co. visited the Adventure Mob offices in Tel Aviv last month they weren't totally impressed. I must admit I feel a bit sorry for Adventure Mob, but have faith in Al Lowe making the right choice. The controversy with this is that the screens and animations that were previewed for Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded were all created by Adventure Mob. Lets hope that fans don't feel too short changed by this sudden U Turn from replay. This new developer sounds pretty sh*t hot though in comparison to Adventure Mob so I'm sure they'll come up with something pretty special with the 600K raised. I hope so because I'm a backer!!! …
